Mansion.jpg

This beautiful Queen Anne Mansion, circa 1891, was built by Mr. J.A. Gill, an influential  merchant.  The Mansion is built of a natural fired brick which is no longer available.  There are nine fireplaces all individually decorated with ceramic tiles as is the front porch.  The Mansion has been utilized as a residence, a funeral home, and a Veterans of Foreign War outpost.  It has  been operated as a Bed & Breakfast since the late 1980's. The inn is located in Old Towne and within a short walking distance from antique shops, restaurants, theatre, museums, the Appomattox River, Petersburg rail system and the Farmers Market (open spring and summer).  The Inn is in close proximity to major civil war sites and parks: Crater Road Battlefield Park and Pamplin Park. See our attractions page for details and upcoming events.
